Supplier API connections

When your supplier gives you API access.

A Direct API Connection lets EagleLytics® read a supplier’s catalog straight from their store platform using credentials the supplier issues to you. No webpage crawling is involved, and the full catalog with every variant is read in seconds.

This page is about connecting to your suppliers’ APIs. EagleLytics® uses the supplier’s own platform API (Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce or Magento) with credentials the supplier gives you. EagleLytics® does not offer a developer API of its own.

Credentials needed
Admin API access token

If a supplier gives you an Admin API access token for their Shopify store, add them as a Direct API Connection. The full catalog is fetched through the API instead of the public storefront.

BigCommerce

Credentials needed
Store hash + API access token (X-Auth-Token)

With a store hash and an access token from the supplier, EagleLytics® reads the catalog through the BigCommerce API. This turns a scan that could take hours into one that finishes in seconds.

Credentials needed
REST API consumer key + consumer secret

If the supplier issues you WooCommerce REST API keys, add them as a Direct API Connection and the catalog is read through the API.

Magento

Credentials needed
Integration OAuth credentials (consumer key, consumer secret, access token, access token secret)

If a supplier creates a Magento Integration for you with catalog and inventory read access, add them as a Direct API Connection. The catalog is read through the signed /rest/V1 API instead of the storefront pages.

The supplier grants access through their platform’s API, so no webpage is crawled and the connection follows the platform’s own API rate limits instead of depending on the website’s layout.

API-connected suppliers show up in scans, scan reports, syncs and schedules exactly like URL-based suppliers.

How to add one

Four steps in the app.

  1. Suppliers → Add Supplier

    Open the Suppliers page in the EagleLytics® app and click Add Supplier.

  2. Choose Direct API Connection

    Switch the connection type from Website URL to Direct API Connection and pick the supplier’s platform.

  3. Enter the credentials

    Paste the store URL and the credentials your supplier issued — token, store hash, or consumer key and secret.

  4. Test Connection

    EagleLytics® confirms it can read the catalog before saving. Then run a scan like any other supplier.

Security

Supplier credentials are handled like your own.

API credentials give read access to a supplier’s catalog, so they are treated as secrets from the moment you paste them.

  • Encrypted at rest with Fernet before they are stored; decrypted only in memory when a scan runs
  • Never displayed again after saving — edit forms show blank fields, and leaving them blank keeps the existing secret
  • Never included in API responses, scan reports or exports
  • Removed when you delete the supplier

FAQ

API connection questions.

Does EagleLytics® have its own public API?
No. “API connection” here means EagleLytics® connecting to your supplier’s store platform API with credentials the supplier gives you. There is no developer API for pulling data out of EagleLytics®.
Which platforms support a Direct API Connection?
Shopify (Admin API access token), BigCommerce (store hash and API access token), WooCommerce (REST API consumer key and secret) and Magento (an Integration’s OAuth credentials or access token). Squarespace suppliers are monitored from their website URL only.
What permissions should I ask the supplier for?
Read access to products and inventory is all that is needed. EagleLytics® never writes to a supplier’s store.
Can I limit an API scan to certain collections or categories?
Yes for individual product URLs, which are filtered after the catalog is fetched. Collection and category scopes currently apply to website-URL suppliers; API scans return the full catalog.
