EagleLytics — Supplier Monitor

For website owners

EagleLyticsBot

If this name appeared in your server logs, this page explains what visited, why, and how to limit or stop it.

What it does

A retailer asked us to watch your public product listings.

EagleLytics® helps online retailers keep their stores in step with the suppliers they buy from. When a retailer adds a supplier website, EagleLyticsBot reads that site's public product pages and product feeds to record each product's SKU, price and whether it is in stock. The retailer uses that to stop selling items you have run out of.

It reads what any visitor can see

Product names, SKUs, prices, availability, images and descriptions, exactly as shown to a signed-out shopper. It does not read customer data, order data or anything behind a login.

It does not act on your store

It never places orders, adds items to a cart, creates accounts, submits contact forms or signs in. Orders continue to come from the retailer the usual way.

How it behaves

Built to be a polite visitor.

robots.txt first

Before any scan we read your robots.txt and apply the rules for both EagleLyticsBot and *. Disallowed paths are never fetched. The file is re-read at least every 24 hours.

Feeds before pages

Where the platform publishes a product feed or storefront API, such as Shopify's products.json, the WooCommerce Store API or the BigCommerce storefront API, we read that instead of visiting product pages one by one. A whole catalog is usually two or three requests.

Deliberately slow

One scan per domain at a time. At least one second between requests, slower on platforms that need it, and your Crawl-delay wins when it is stricter. We back off on 429 and 503 responses.

Identifies itself

Requests to your pages carry the user agent above. Requests to public platform product endpoints, which are served to ordinary browsers, are made with a standard browser client. We do not use proxies or rotate IP addresses.

Fixed US servers, US and Canada sites

All requests come from fixed servers in the United States. We only monitor supplier websites that operate in the United States or Canada; sites elsewhere are declined before any scan runs.

Allow-listing

If your firewall needs our current IP address to allow it, email support@eaglelytics.com with your domain and we will send it.

How to limit or block it

Your robots.txt is enough.

Changes take effect the next time we read the file, which is at least once a day and before every scan once the previous copy expires.

Prefer not to edit robots.txt? Email support@eaglelytics.com with your domain and we will add it to our exclusion list, which blocks it for every EagleLytics® account.

Why a retailer might be reading your store

One of your customers is trying not to oversell your products.

A retailer who stocks your products asked EagleLytics® to watch your public listings so their store stops selling an item the moment you mark it sold out, and picks it back up when you restock. Questions about that relationship are for the retailer. Questions about the crawler, or about any business data we hold, are for us: support@eaglelytics.com, or see our policies.
