Shopify Setup Guide

Install from the Shopify App Store; connect supplier stores by API

There are two different things you can connect to EagleLytics® on Shopify, and they are set up in different ways.

Your own store — the store EagleLytics® updates. Connected by installing EagleLytics® from the Shopify App Store inside that store's admin. Nothing to copy, no credentials, and billing goes on your Shopify invoice.

A supplier's store (optional) — a Shopify store you buy from that has agreed to give you direct API access. Connected on the Supplier Store form with credentials the supplier creates for you. Most suppliers are monitored by URL instead and need none of this.

Part 1: Connect your own Shopify store

Step 1: Sign in to EagleLytics®

Stay signed in to EagleLytics® in this browser. When Shopify hands you back after the install, the store is linked to whichever account is signed in.

Step 2: Open the Shopify App Store from your store's admin

In the Shopify admin of the store you want to connect:

Apps → Shopify App Store → search "EagleLytics" → Install

The Connect Store page also has an Open the Shopify App Store button that takes you to the same listing.

Step 3: Approve the permissions

Shopify shows the access EagleLytics® asks for. All six are needed for inventory sync and product import, and nothing else is requested:

  • read_products / write_products — match products by SKU and create imported products
  • read_inventory / write_inventory — read and update stock levels
  • read_publications / write_publications — publish imported products to your sales channels

Click Install. Shopify redirects you straight back to EagleLytics®.

Step 4: Choose a plan

On a first install you land on the plan picker. Paid plans are approved on a Shopify page and billed on your Shopify invoice; a free trial is available once per store. You can change or cancel the plan later from Account → Subscription without reinstalling.

Step 5: Done

The store appears under Your Store(s) on the Connect page with the name Shopify reports. The connection does not expire; it ends only if you uninstall the app.

Connecting a second store

If your plan allows more than one store, repeat Steps 1–3 from the second store's Shopify admin while signed in to the same EagleLytics® account. It is added alongside the first.

Part 2: Connect a supplier's Shopify store (optional)

Only for suppliers who have agreed to give you API access to their store. Everything in this part happens in the supplier's Shopify admin, and the result is entered on the Supplier Store form on the Connect page — never under Your Store(s).

What the supplier creates

In their Shopify admin:

Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps → Create an app

If they see "Custom app development is disabled", they click "Allow custom app development" once. They name the app (for example EagleLytics® Inventory Feed), open Configure Admin API scopes and enable only:

  • read_products
  • read_inventory

Read access is enough for a supplier feed. Then they open the app's Settings page and either:

  • send you the Client ID and Client Secret, after adding https://eaglelytics.com/api/shopify/oauth/callback under Allowed redirection URL(s), or
  • install the app on their store and send you the Admin API access token (starts with shpat_).

What you enter

Connect page → Add Supplier Store → platform Shopify:

FieldValue
Store NameThe supplier's name, for your reference
Supplier's Shopify store URLThe supplier's .myshopify.com address
Client ID + Client SecretIf the supplier sent those — click Install & Authorize and approve on Shopify
Access TokenIf the supplier sent a token — switch to I Have a Token, paste it, click Save & Test Connection

How inventory sync works

EagleLytics® matches products by SKU. For each matching SKU in your store:

  • In stock at the supplier: inventory tracking is disabled so the product shows as available
  • Out of stock at the supplier: inventory tracking is enabled and quantity set to 0

If Sync Prices is enabled, variant prices are also updated.

Troubleshooting

I installed from the App Store but the store is not on my Connect page

You were not signed in to EagleLytics® in that browser when Shopify sent you back, so the install created or opened a different account. Sign in to the account you meant to use and open the app once from the Shopify admin (Apps → EagleLytics); it links there.

Shopify says the app is already installed

Open it from Apps → EagleLytics in that store's admin. Opening the app refreshes the connection and signs you in.

Supplier connection: "Test Connection" fails with 401 Unauthorized

The token is invalid or was revoked. Ask the supplier for a fresh one, or re-run Install & Authorize with their Client ID and Secret.

Supplier connection: "Test Connection" fails with 403 Forbidden

The supplier's custom app is missing read_products or read_inventory.

Sync runs but products show as "Not Found"

SKUs don't match. EagleLytics® matches by exact SKU. Use Map to SKU on the scan report for products whose SKUs differ.
